It doesn’t take much to see that the US real estate market is in dire straits right now. The investment potential may be there in some circumstances, but investors have no idea how long they’ll need to wait for property values to rebound. New reports show that property values in some places have dipped below 2000 levels, and many people are “upside-down” on their properties – owing more to the bank than the property is currently worth. A Mexican real estate investment doesn’t seem to have that problem, and property values in certain areas of Mexico continue to climb.

Mexican real estate – and in particular Puerto Vallarta real estate – looks like a very good investment right now. The Mexican economy is growing and property values are rising. The property is still affordable, however. That’s one major difference between property along the US Pacific Coast and property along Mexico’s Pacific Coast.

New Mexican laws have changed the property ownership landscape dramatically here in the past few years. New provisions protect the owner of the land, and permit a form of land ownership in the Restricted Zones along the coastline. The new laws make land ownership so attractive that banks are now offering mortgages at affordable rates, making land purchases even easier.
